COURSE DESCRIPTION

This program focuses on slalom skills for river running.  It is designed to be a fun, educational series for women to learn in a suportive and enjoyable environment.  The plan is to carve out time for socializing after each session also.

GOALS

The aim of this program is to have a bunch of fun on the water after work and to learn some technical slalom paddling skills that are transferable to Class II/III whitewater paddling.  All sessions will be located in and around Calgary so it won't be a huge time commitment to rush out to the Kananaskis or other rivers after work.

Our goal s to create a fun, supportive program where intermediate paddlers can learn in a non-competitive atmosphere and pick up skills to apply to their everyday whitewater paddling.  An offshoot of this is that we hope to connect participants with other liek minded paddlers and facilitate the opportunity for socializing after each session.

We would also hope that participants will feel comfortable in jining us at the intermediate race at the Toby Creek festival later in the year.

OUTCOMES

After completing this course participants can expect to have met a bunch of other female paddlers and maybe to have expanded their paddling 'network'.  From a technical standpoint paddlers can expect to add a bunch of slalom specific skills to their repertoire to use in whitewater paddling.
